
On 1 September 2026, the Communication Networks Research Group (CNG) hosted Prof. Leonardo Badia from the University of Padova, Italy, for a seminar entitled “Partial Stateful Server Selection for Minimal Age of Information Scheduling over a Finite Horizon.”
During the seminar, Prof. Badia presented his recent work on Age of Information (AoI) optimization for systems in which computationally intensive information updates can either be processed locally or offloaded to a shared mobile edge computing server. The talk covered partial state information, server selection, and low-complexity scheduling approaches for multi-source information updating systems.
Following the seminar, Prof. Badia spent the remainder of the day working with Prof. Uysal and CNG researchers on a number of ongoing research topics. The discussions focused on on-board computation, DTN-based flow control for deep-space communications, relaying and age-optimal preemption. The working sessions enabled detailed technical exchanges on current approaches and open research problems, while also providing an opportunity to discuss future collaborations and exchange programs between METU and the University of Padova.
